As you may have heard the ketogenic diet is everywhere. Lots of people are trying it and finding success. I have been on the keto diet since July of 2018. One of the toughest things for me was giving up my snacks, especially whenever I travel.
Being hungry on a plane when the flight attendants are passing out snacks is torturous. They ask, “Would you like one,” and unfortunately, I have to reply, “No thank you.”
For the first 4 months of my diet this was tough. I tried looking for suggestions on the internet and in my keto groups, but most suggestions were beef jerky, which I only kinda like and a lot of fat bomb recipes.
Don’t even get me started on how many different recipes I tried for chocolate chip cookies, which were my absolute favorite snack prior to my keto WOE (way of eating).
Then I began to get smart. I thought about the snacks I missed eating the most. They were my sweets, my cookies and my salty, crunchy snacks. I began looking for healthy, low carb, keto friendly options, and I hit the jackpot.

I wish someone had told me that these kinds of snacks were available and not ridiculously expensive. Now I feel like shouting from the keto mountain tops--to all--that there are 4 really delicious keto snacks you have to have if you miss your chocolate bars, chips/crackers, or cookies.
This list is in no particular order of favorites, because just like your kids you shouldn’t have favorites.
Lily’s Chocolate bars have single-handedly saved me. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars and Snickers bars were my bread and butter, especially during “shark week.” I missed my chocolate.
My chocolate keto shakes were not getting it done for me, nor were the chocolate fluffs and cream cheese-filled, chocolate fat bombs. All of that changed the day I came across these in the grocery store. I turned over the label and saw that they only contain 5 net carbs per 40 grams, which is approximately half the candy bar.
They have several flavors including my favorite salted caramel! Amazon has a pretty great deal on a boxed set of some of the most popular flavors.
#2 Jilz Gluten Free, Grain Free Crackerz
Oh, how do I love these crackers let me count the ways! I missed crackers and chips. Basically, I missed snacks that had a crunch that didn’t involve raw veggies. I genuinely believed that I would never consume another cracker, which was a shame.
My entire junior year of college I lived off of Cheeze-Its, but keto required that my crackers be sacrificed. That is until I found these crackers. They are only 5 net carbs per serving, and one serving is 10 crackers.
Each serving size is only 100 calories. The beautiful thing is I never eat more than four crackers because the crackers are so large.
I typically have 3-4 crackers with some whipped, cream cheese spread on top, and I my crunchy craving is satisfied. The Tuscan Italian Herbs, Lemon & Tomato is my favorite flavor followed by the Sea Salt & Black Pepper flavor.
These also fall into my crunchy I miss chips category. Whisps come in a number of different cheese flavors. My favorite among them are the cheddar cheese crisps and the asiagio & pepper jack cheese crisps.
I know that I can bake cheese and get something similar to this, but in full transparency...I don’t want to do that. If you’re like me then you may prefer this option as opposed to the baking and the clean up.
You should check out the different flavor combos that Amazon has, to discover which flavors you like the best. That's how I learned cheddar and asiago were my favorites.
#4 Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies
The last item on this list is not actually a snack that I purchase, but rather a excitingly delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe that I discovered on Pinterest. @Low Carb with Jennifer is the creator of this wonderful recipe.
Why does this chocolate chip cookie recipe stand out from among all of the rest? You ask!
I have tried over 10 different chocolate chip cookie recipes. Mostly, with coconut flour because my first two attempts with almond flour had me convinced I could never love an almond flour cookie.
Oh, but, alas I was so very wrong. I made these cookies and then shared them with my co-workers. Each of them exclaimed in slight disbelief how delicious, sweet and soft they were. I did tweak the recipe just a bit--since I’ve learned a thing or two from all of my other baking experiences--to get the final product. (If you want the amended recipe leave a comment below.) The best part is that each cookie is only 2 net carbs!

Here’s the moral of the story. Find what works for you. Discover and try the snacks or foods that will help you to be successful with keto. When you do this, then keto is no longer a diet, it’s just how you eat, and you can love it!
